Amazon Names Cloud Computing Head as Unit CEOAndy Jassy

Web retailer Amazon announced Andy Jassy, 47, the SVP of its Amazon Web Services cloud computing business since 2006, as CEO of the unit. Jassy served as VP of Web Services at Amazon from January 2005 to April 2006, VP of Associates and Web Services of Amazon from September 2003 to January 2005 and served as its VP and Technical Assistant from November 2002 to September 2003. Prior to that, he founded a marketing consulting company in 1997 and served as its Manager. 

Salesforce Appoints Former European Commissioner to its Board of Directors     

Salesforce named Neelie Kroes, 74, a former European Commissioner, to its Board. Kroes is former VP of the European Commission, European Commissioner for Competition, and European Commissioner for Digital Agenda. Kroes is currently Special Envoy for StartupDelta.

VMware Appoints Board Member with Financial ExpertiseKaren E. Dykstra

VMware elected Karen E. Dykstra to the board of directors. Dykstra brings substantial financial expertise to the company's board. She has served on the board of directors of Gartner since 2007 and was CFO of AOL from 2012 to 2015, and a member of the AOL board from 2009 to 2012. From 2006 to 2010, Dykstra was a Partner of Plainfield Asset Management, and served as COO and CFO of Plainfield Direct, and served as a director from 2007 to 2010. Earlier in her career, Dykstra spent over 25 years with ADP, serving most recently as CFO from 2003 to 2006.

Autodesk Appoints Three Directors to the Board      

Autodesk appointed Scott Ferguson, founder and managing partner of Sachem Head Capital Management, Rick Hill, board chairman of Tessera Technologies, and Jeff Clarke, CEO of Eastman Kodak, to board.

Ferguson is the managing partner and portfolio manager of Sachem Head, a value-oriented investment management firm based in New York. Prior to that, he spent nine years at Pershing Square Capital Management, having joined Bill Ackman as the firm’s first investment professional and partner.

Hill, 63, has served as a member of Tessera’s Board since August 2012 and as Chairman since March 2013. He previously served as Interim CEO from April 2013 until May 2013. Prior to that, he served as CEO and director of Novellus Systems, until its $3 billion plus acquisition by Lam Research in 2012.

Clarke, 53, has been the CEO of Eastman Kodak since March 2014. Prior to joining Kodak, Clarke was a Managing Partner of Augusta Columbia Capital (ACC), Chairman of Travelport where he served as CEO from 2006 to 2011, COO of CA, EVP of Global Operations at HP, CFO of Compaq Computer, and was with DEC from 1985 to 1998, serving in management roles in international operations, finance and manufacturing.

Citrix Systems Announces Resignation of David R. Friedman as Chief of Staff, Office of the CEO

David R. Friedman, 54, resigned as Citrix Systems's Chief of Staff, Office of the CEO. At Citrix since 2002, he previously served as general counsel and SVP of human resources.

Splunk Hires Salesforce Chief Revenue Officer of Marketing Cloud to Drive Revenue GrowthSusan St. Ledger

Splunk appointed Susan St. Ledger as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). As CRO, St. Ledger will have direct worldwide responsibility for all revenue generating and customer facing Splunk teams. St.  Ledger will report directly to Doug Merritt, President and CEO, Splunk. St.  Ledger serves as CRO of the Marketing Cloud at Salesforce.com. At Salesforce.com, she also served as SVP of global platform sales and SVP of strategic sales. She left that role to become President of Buddy Media, acquired by Salesforce. Prior to that, she served as VP of global services sales at Sun Microsystems.

HomeAway Co-Founder Joins GoDaddy's Board      

GoDaddy has appointed Brian Sharples to its board of directors. Sharples, the co-founder and CEO of HomeAway, brings vast technology brand and entrepreneurial leadership. Prior to HomeAway, he was CEO of IntelliQuest Information Group. Sharples has counseled several major brands, including Apple, Microsoft and Dell. He currently serves on the board of directors for RetailMeNot, Fexy Media, and Twyla.  He is an investment advisor to venture capital firm, Institutional Venture Partners, and private equity firm, Tritium Partners.

Synchronoss’ Director Charles E. Hoffman to Step Down    

Charles E. Hoffman, 67, a director of Synchronoss Technologies, the mobile innovation company which provides cloud solutions and software-based activation for connected devices globally, notified the company's Board of Directors that he does not intend to run for re-election to the board. Hoffman served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Covad Communications Group from 2001 to 2008. He has more than 30 years of telecom and broadband experience in the wireless, cable, local and long-distance sectors.

RingCentral Appoints VP of Channel Sales    

RingCentral, the cloud-based global communications company, appointed Zane Long as VP of Channel Sales to further develop the channel program and extend RingCentral’s services globally. Long brings more than 13 years of channel success to the RingCentral team, having previously served as VP of Vonage’s Global Strategic Partner Group and Cbeyond’s National VP of Channel Sales.

Benefitfocus Announces Executive Changes 

Benefitfocus announced that Milton A. Alpern resigned as Chief Financial Officer of the company effective March 31, 2016. In the interim, effective April 1, 2016, Raymond A. August, the company's president and chief operating officer, has assumed the additional responsibilities of principal financial and accounting officer of the company.
