Facebook Hires Google Exec to Head New R&D Group

Facebook hired Google's Regina Dugan to head up a new research and development group focused on hardware, called Building 8, part of a push by CEO Mark Zuckerberg to connect people in new ways, from messaging to virtual reality. Dugan, who leads the Advanced Technology and Products group at Alphabet's Google, is also a former director of the US military's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and will bring DARPA-style development merging products and science to Facebook.

GE Healthcare Appoints Digital Chief          

Charles Koontz, joins GE as VP and chief digital officer for GE Healthcare. Before joining GE, Koontz served as the VP and general manager of healthcare at CSC.

PepsiCo Appoints Agrium CIO Jody Davids to Replace Robert Dixon as CIOJody Davids

PepsiCo named Jody Davids SVP and global CIO.  She replaces Robert Dixon, who retired after more than eight years at the company. Most recently, Davids spent two years as CIO at Canadian fertilizer company Agrium. She has held CIO roles at Best Buy and Cardinal Health, and other technology positions at Nike, Apple and General Electric.

UPS Promotes Company Veteran as New CIO         

UPS announced Juan R. Perez,is named CIO replacing Chief Information and Global Business Services Officer Dave Barnes, who elected to retire after 38 years with the company.  Barnes will continue with UPS through June 30, 2016 to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.

Perez is a long-time UPS employee who most recently served as SVP of technology. He has spent 26 years at the company beginning as an intern in Los Angeles in 1990. Over the years he has worked in operations, industrial engineering, quality and technology. He also spent eight months driving a UPS truck.

UBS Group Realigns Senior Leadership         

UBS Group AG reorganized the senior ranks of its operations group, naming Axel Lehmann its new COO. Group CIO Oliver Bussmann departs among other management changes. Lehmann will act as head of IT until a replacement is named. Before joining UBS in 2013, Bussmann was CIO of enterprise technology vendor SAP.

Ben Crystal was appointed to the newly created role of head of fintech for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Crystal, who has previously covered fintech sub-sectors such as technology-enabled lenders, will help coordinate the bank's coverage across EMEA business services, financial firms and technology, media and telecoms.

BNY Mellon Appoints Goldman Sachs Tech Exec as Head of Application Platform and Services Group   

BNY Mellon has named John Weir head of its newly formed Application Platform and Services group, a unit of the company's Client Technology Solutions organization. Weir is responsible for delivering common enabling technologies that enhance the productivity of application developers, particularly on the company's new NEXEN digital platform. He was previously the global head of Middleware Engineering at Goldman Sachs where he provided the firm's application development teams with the tools, platforms and services required to accelerate solution delivery.

Tesla Motors’ CIO Left to Form New Stealth Startup

Jay Vijayan has left his job as the CIO at Tesla Motors to begin working on a stealth startup. He officially left the company in January and started his new role as founder and CEO about a month ago.

Capgemini Names André França as VP of Infrastructure and Outsourcing Services André França Cardoso

Capgemini named André França Cardoso as VP of infrastructure and outsourcing services (IOS). Previously, he was Director , Latin America Outsourcing base growth at IBM.

Suncorp Group CIO Resigns  

Suncorp Group Limited announced the resignation of CIO Matt Pancino. Pancino has worked for Suncorp since 2010 in various roles, most recently as CIO with responsibility for digital enablement, cloud and infrastructure services, programs, and innovation labs. He has been instrumental in delivering Suncorp's Simplification program and technology projects across Suncorp's businesses.

Lenovo Group Looks for a Permanent CTO  

Lenovo's chief of technology Peter Hortensius will entirely take up his new role, heading technology and strategy for the firms new Data Center Group, while previous CTO and present head of Lenovo Capital and Investment Group (LCIG) George He will become acting CTO while the firm looks for a permanent leader in that designation.

Nordstrom Names Former Bazaarvoice and Amazon Exec as CTO 

Kumar Srinivasan has joined Nordstrom as CTO. In this new role, Srinivasan will focus on identifying opportunities to reduce complexity while optimizing engineering and software productivity and effectiveness across four Nordstrom Technology teams that support the company's Service & Experience, Loyalty & Marketing, Engineering and Supply Chain initiatives. Srinivasan was previously co-founder and CEO of Evocalize; chief product & technology officer for Bazaarvoice; and VP, GM at Amazon, where he led Amazon Payments Merchant Solutions.

58.com Appoints Hongyu Xing as CTO         

58.com named Hongyu Xing as CTO. Mr. Hongyu Xing has more than 10 years of experience in the Internet industry. Xing joined 58.com in 2015 as a SVP. Prior to joining the Company, he held various positions at Tencent including General Manager in charge of search products, network and media products and WeChat.

Centene Corporation Appoints CIO from Acquired Subsidiary Health Net  

Centene Corporation appointed Mark Brooks to SVP and CIO. Brooks will oversee the development and implementation of all IT and systems. Most recently, he was CIO for Health Net, the publicly traded managed care organization that became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Centene in March. He held several roles during this tenure including CTO and VP of Applications Development.

A. O. Smith Promotes VP, Business Transformation to CIO

A. O. Smith Corporation appointed Peter R. Martineau as SVP and CIO. In his new role, Martineau will be responsible for all of A. O. Smith's global business systems and will lead the newly created Business and Technology Solutions organization. Martineau has served as VP, business transformation since January 2013. 

Martineau replaces Randall Bednar, who retired after serving for 15 years as CIO of the Milwaukee-based water technology company.

Aberdeen Asset Management Names Head of Digital          

Aberdeen Asset Management has appointed AXA Elevate's Martin Jennings to the newly created role of head of digital. Jennnings will be responsible for the newly acquired Parmenion. He will also develop and implement a business plan for Aberdeen to take advantage of new technology. He will also oversee Aberdeen's partnership with pensions consultancy Hymans Robertson to launch a retail saving guidance technology called 'GO'. Jennings was previously chief executive of FNZ in the UK and Australia, and before that was managing director of AXA's Elevate platform.

Aqua America Hires CIO From Atlas Energy Group Whitney S. Kellett

Aqua America hired Whitney S. Kellett as its new CIO. In her new position, Kellett will oversee IT systems and platforms for the corporation and its subsidiaries. Kellett, has more than 20 years of experience in IT and strategic integration. She spent the last four years as VP of IT at Atlas Energy Group.

Assurant Names Verizon Enterprise Solutions Exec as CTO

Assurant appointed Ajay Waghray to the role of CTO and to the company’s management committee. In this newly created role, Waghray will drive technology strategy and align IT with business objectives across Assurant’s global enterprise. Most recently, Waghray served as CIO of Verizon Enterprise Solutions.

WellCare Hires New CIO from Anthem

WellCare Health Plans appointed Darren Ghanayem as SVP, CIO. Prior to joining WellCare, Ghanayem spent more than 15 years with Anthem, formerly WellPoint, where he provided leadership for a broad variety of technology initiatives. Most recently, he served as VP of business transformation, where he delivered innovative solutions to improve health care for members and providers.

U.S. Postal Service Gets New CIO

The U.S. Postal Service appointed Kristin Seaver as EVP and CIO. Seaver succeeds Randy Miskanic, who was named acting CIO in April 2015. He will return to his former position as USPS’ chief information security officer and digital solutions VP, where he led efforts to strengthen information systems and accelerate digital product development. Seaver was previously VP for area operations in the Capital Metro Area.

FBI Elevates Internal Exec as CIO

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has named agency insider Gordon Bitko as its new CIO. Bitko, who begins as CIO this month, has been with the agency since 2007, including for the past year as chief of the Support Services Transformation Office. He replaces former CIO Jerry Pender, who left the agency in August to join an investment management firm.

Tribune Media Announces Digital Executive Appointments 

Tribune Media Company announced the recent appointment of two key executives charged with extending the company's record-breaking digital growth across its media properties. Former NowThis and Vice Media executive Steven Belser was named Head of Creative Strategy, responsible for launching new editorial franchises and digital business development across all Tribune Media platforms. Belser joins Tribune Media from NowThis Media, and was previously the Head of Production at Vice Media.

 Tribune Broadcasting veteran Steve Baron was named Head of Product & Engineering, responsible for the development of new products and software across the company's media brands. Before becoming VP of Digital Content and Technology at Tribune Broadcasting, Baron was VP of Interactive Content for Local TV.

FICO Appoints Former Salesforce Exec to Chief Information Office           

FICO has appointed Claus Moldt as CIO. Prior to joining FICO, Moldt was CEO of mPath. Before that he was the global CIO and SVP of service delivery at Salesforce. He previously held leadership positions at eBay, Oracle and Loudcloud.

Visteon Appoints CTO From Elektrobit Automotive

Visteon appointed Markus Schupfner as CTO. Schupfner will lead advanced technology development, especially in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving.  Schupfner has more than 20 years of experience leading software development for global automotive suppliers, primarily serving high-end vehicle manufacturers. Schupfner joins Visteon from Elektrobit Automotive GmbH, where since 2014 he has been EVP of operations, after serving four years as VP of Elektrobit infotainment solutions.

 Associated Bank Appoints FIS Exec as New VP, Solutions Architect          

Associated Bank has appointed Joel Barnes as the new VP, solutions architect. With 18 years of banking industry experience, Barnes formerly held the position of global banking service delivery manager with Fidelity National Information Services. In this role he oversaw strategic customer core-banking integrations during the Metavante merger. Recently he led the enterprise integrations product development business, delivering next-generation integration solutions based on open standards and technologies.

GoDaddy CTO and Cloud Leader Resigns

GoDaddy announced that Elissa E. Murphy resigned as CTO and EVP, Cloud Platform. Murphy is a former Yahoo! Executive who joined GoDaddy in 2013. She will be joining Google.

GoDaddy CIO and infrastructure officer Arne Josefsberg will take over Murphy’s position. Josefsberg joined the company in 2014 after serving as enterprise cloud company ServiceNow and, prior to that, a 26-year career with Microsoft.

GVC Holdings Creates Chief Product Officer Role

GVC Holdings appointed Liron Snir to the newly created role of Chief Product Officer. Liron, the former VP of Product and Strategy of Playtech, is recognized as one of the foremost product and technology experts in the online gaming industry having worked in the industry for sixteen years. As VP of Customer Relations for over six years Liron managed Playtech's customer portfolio and supported the business' growth.

Mellanox Technologies Announces Several Tech Executive Changes           

Mellanox Technologies announced the promotion of Erez Cohen, to VP, Cloud Program; Yaron Gepstein, to VP, Software. In addition, the company has also promoted Ofer Ezra to the position of Senior Principal Engineer of Layout Design; Aviad Raveh, to Senior Principal Architect, Software; and Ran Ravid to Senior Principal Chip Design Engineer.

Erez Cohen, VP of the Mellanox Cloud Program, joined Mellanox in August, 2000 and has more than 17 years of related high tech experience. Erez is responsible for the Mellanox Cloud activities.

Yaron Gepstein, VP of Software, joined Mellanox in August, 2000 as a design engineer in the Silicon group.

Ofer Ezra, Senior Principal Engineer of CAD and Layout Design, joined the Company in 1999 as an engineer to lead a new layout design team. Ezra has more than 27 years of experience. Prior to joining Mellanox, he spent nine years at Intel as a Layout Manager and one year at Tower as a Senior CAD Engineer. Ezra is currently responsible for the CAD, digital and analog layout for all of the Mellanox ICs and for all company EDA tools.

Aviad Raveh, Senior Principal Architect for Switch Software, has more than 22 years of experience in the communication industry and joined Mellanox in September 2009 as an architect managing the switch software architecture team. In April 2014, he was promoted to Principal Architect. Prior to working for Mellanox, he was the CTO and Founder of Automation Lifestyle, a start-up focused on uPNP-based home appliances.

Ran Ravid, Senior Principal Chip Design Engineer at Mellanox, has 15 years of experience. He joined Mellanox in 2001 with responsibility for all the chip design roles primarily in the Layer 1, 2 area. He is currently responsible for Layers 1 and 2 for all Mellanox products including switches, HCAs and FPGA as well as for analog logic verification in all products.

Proto Labs Sees CTO Changes          

Proto Labs announced the hiring of Richard Baker as its CTO. Baker will replace Donald G. Krantz, who announced his intention to retire. Dr. Krantz intends to continue to serve in his current capacities while an orderly transition is accomplished.

SKYCITY Appoints CIO From Meridian Energy     Glen McLatchie

New Zealand based SKYCITY Entertainment Group has announced that Glen McLatchie has commenced as CIO. Glen was CIO for Meridian Energy from 2010 to 2016 and has previously held senior positions with Contact Energy and BP.

PRA Group Names CTO and Assistant VP, Technology Services     

PRA Group announced that Chris Burroughs has been named CTO. Burroughs has more than 25 years of experience in IT. Her previous roles include VP of IT infrastructure and architecture, Americas Zone for Allianz Global Assistance, network manager for McGuire Woods and IT director for Circuit City Stores.

Gary Ochs has been named assistant VP, technology services. Ochs was senior manager, data center operations for the company before being promoted to his current position. His previous roles include director, IT operations for the Americas for Cegedim Group, senior network engineer for ProSoft, and network engineer and exchange administrator for CACI Field Services.

Marketo Appoints IBM Exec as Chief Scientist        

Marketo appointed Shankar Venkataraman as chief scientist. Venkataraman joins Marketo from IBM where he was CTO for the IBM Analytics Platform. He is a distinguished technology leader and pioneer of the streaming database architecture. As chief scientist, he will set the future vision for the company's platform architecture and marketing analytics, and advise customers on how to reach their customers effectively at scale.

International Personal Finance Appoints AmEx CTO for MEA as New CIO           

International Personal Finance has appointed Chris Robinson as the new CIO. Chris, who joined the company in March, will be responsible for leading the digital transformation of the business. Chris joins IPF from American Express, where he held the role of VP and CTO for the Middle East and Africa.

Investment Technology Group Names Managing Director and Head of Global Technology Architecture  

Saro Jahani has joined Investment Technology Group as managing director and head of global technology architecture. Prior to joining Investment Technology Group, Jahani was CIO of trueEX Group.

GFT Appoints New Head of Application Simplification Practice

GFT SE has appointed Tim Brazier as a new head of application simplification practice. Tim joins GFT from the Royal Bank of Scotland, where he was MD of Application Simplification. He has over 10 years' experience working in consultancy as both a practice head and COO at Thales Information Systems and Catalyst Ltd.

Stallergenes Greer Taps Zoetis Tech Exec as Global Head of IT      

Stallergenes Greer appointed Daniel Smith as Global Head of IT. Daniel joins Stallergenes Greer after six years at Zoetis formerly Pfizer Pharmaceuticals International where he was responsible for driving innovation in global infrastructure business technology programs, including pharma-focused enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, digital e-commerce, and sales force support platforms.

inContact CTO/CSO Departs

Julian Critchfield, EVP and Chief Technology & Security Officer, is leaving inContact. He joined the company in 2014, from GE Healthcare, where he was CTO & GM of Cloud & Enterprise Platform Systems.

Westinghouse Electric Hires CIO From ATK

Westinghouse Electric Co. has tapped corporate IT veteran Jeff Kubacki as its new CIO. Kubacki, who was also named as a VP, has more than 30 years of experience as an enterprise technology executive, most recently as a SVP and CIO for the past five years at Alliant Techsystems, or ATK, the U.S. ammunition maker. He was previously CIO at risk-consulting firm Kroll.

USAA Hires Kimberly-Clark CIO for Similar Role, Kimberly-Clark Looks for Permanent ReplacementJennifer Sepull

Jennifer Sepull, former CIO at Kimberly-Clark, has joined financial services firm USAA as CIO. She started in late February and replaces Greg Schwartz, who retired after 30 years at USAA. Sarah Jansen, senior director in the IT program management office at Kimberly-Clark, is interim leader of IT while the company searches for a replacement.

New Jersey State CIO Steps Down

New Jersey State CIO Steven Emanuel is stepping down and returning to the private sector. Emanuel, who leaves the state’s top IT post after more than four years, is expected to be taking an executive position at infrastructure-as-a-service firm Alliant Technologies. He had previously been CIO for Montgomery County, for four years, and Amtrak for more than nine years.
